Most veterans are only accessing a fraction of their DVA entitlements. Not because they don't qualify — but because the system makes it almost impossible to know what you're actually owed.
It's not always the paperwork. It's not always the system. Sometimes it's the voice in your head that says you don't need it, don't deserve it, or shouldn't ask. That voice has cost veterans more than any form ever has.
Multiple acts, different card types, condition-specific rules — the DVA system is designed by bureaucrats, not veterans. Most people give up long before they find out what they actually qualify for.
DVA doesn't proactively contact veterans with a list of their entitlements. If you don't know to ask for something, you don't get it. That's not an accident — and it's not right.
Many veterans don't realise how broad White Card entitlements can be — or that they may qualify for conditions they've never claimed. The card is a starting point, not a ceiling.
Even veterans who know what they're entitled to often can't get through the claims process alone. Applications get rejected. Follow-ups don't happen. Years pass. We've seen it too many times.
